Final English product positioning, technology, application and commercial master guide
1. Product Family Introduction |
Columus is a professional inflatable light-tower system for rapid temporary area illumination. Instead of relying on a heavy telescopic mast, the standard SP/SE/EN architecture uses a low-power blower to continuously inflate the tower and raise a diffused light engine several metres above the work area. The elevated luminous surface distributes broad 360-degree light with reduced direct glare and packs into a compact transport format for construction, emergency response, rescue, industrial maintenance, infrastructure and professional outdoor operations.
The 2026 product structure is organized by commercial/engineering tier rather than the older flex/standard/box naming. Model codes use light-source technology + wattage + tier suffix, for example MH400SP, HMI575SE, XN200EN and COB400SP. AP Advance Pro is retained as a specialized low-noise custom-engineering branch using a sealed-air concept rather than continuous inflation.
2. Series Positioning | |||||

EN | Entry Normal | Entry / essential-function | Oxford fabric or equivalent commercial entry-grade envelope; Continuous-air inflatable tower with integrated low-power blower | general temporary lighting, budget-sensitive rental, local maintenance, portable emergency staging and outdoor utility work
AP | Advance Pro | Premium / low-noise custom-engineered | Multi-layer sealed inner air cell plus protective/diffusing outer envelope; material stack is project-engineered; Sealed-air / low-noise architecture designed to avoid continuous inflation-blower noise during normal operation | film and broadcast support, premium event perimeters, acoustically sensitive locations, exhibitions, ceremonies and specialist custom projects
3. How the Series Differ and Connect
· All four branches share the same product mission: rapidly deploy an elevated diffused light source for broad temporary area lighting.
· SP is the broadest standard professional platform and accepts the full current source portfolio.
· SE standardizes the most commercially useful combinations for a professional cost/performance balance.
· EN reduces material and configuration complexity for entry-level essential-function use.
· AP changes the structural concept: a sealed-air / low-noise custom platform intended for acoustically sensitive premium projects.
· A customer should move between series because of material, controls, acoustic needs, power source, source technology and budget - not only because of wattage.

Application | Recommended Technology / Models | Selection Rationale |
Construction & roadwork | MH400/1000; SMD400/1000; COB400/800 | Broad 360° work-zone coverage; choose SMD for cost, COB for control, MH for mature HID value. |

7. Tower, Height & Photometric Planning
Family height options are 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 m by project, with 3.0 m and 4.0 m the most common. Higher mounting height generally increases spread but reduces illuminance at a given point; final selection must balance lux, area, wind exposure and handling.
The legacy Columus standard data provides four valuable photometric anchors: MH400 approximately 3,848 m² at >=1 lx and 707 m² at >=10 lx; MH1000 approximately 9,503 m² at >=1 lx and 1,963 m² at >=10 lx; XN200 approximately 1,810 m² at >=1 lx and 380 m² at >=10 lx; XN400 approximately 4,071 m² at >=1 lx and 804 m² at >=10 lx. New or extended-power models in the final documents use clearly marked engineering planning references until measured photometric tests are completed.
Do not treat 1-lux area as a practical task-lighting area. For general orientation or emergency staging, 10-20 lux is a more useful planning range; detailed work often requires 50-100 lux or more.
8. Power & Control Strategy |
· Global AC mains or portable generator is the standard power path across the main range.
· Selected low-power XN and COB systems, generally around 400 W and below, can be engineered for DC battery or switchable AC/DC use.
· Above 400 W, battery operation is normally not recommended as the default because battery size, runtime and economic efficiency become less attractive.
· COB is the preferred LED architecture for remote switching, continuous dimming, DMX and APP/wireless control.
· AC SMD is the simpler direct-AC option and can use on/off or two-step power switching.
· HMI uses flicker-free electronic ballast as the standard planning basis, with premium ballast packages available by project.
