Portable Tanks, Cold-Plunge Tubs and Liquid-Containment Bodies
A self-standing container that packs down when empty.
Product Positioning
DWF sidewalls make portable tubs and open-top containers look and behave more like rigid products while retaining inflatable logistics. The technology is especially attractive for cold-plunge systems, recovery tubs, wash basins, test tanks, temporary non-hazardous water storage and branded wellness installations.
This page is designed for wellness brands, gyms, sports teams, recovery service providers, hotels, event operators and equipment integrators. The commercial proposition is not limited to lower freight volume. It also includes faster deployment, configurable stiffness, clean flat geometry, repairable construction and the ability to develop private-label variants without the hard tooling normally associated with molded products.
The Customer Problems This Product Solves
· Rigid tubs consume warehouse and shipping volume even when empty.
· Ring-style pools lack upright walls and premium appearance.
· Commercial wellness operators need repeatable inlet, outlet and cover integration.
· Temporary water tasks require quick deployment without a metal frame.
· Brands need custom shapes, colors and accessories at lower tooling cost.
Structure, Material and Engineering Character
Typical products combine 50–100 mm DWF walls with a welded flexible liner or DWF base, reinforced top edge, drain, threaded inlet/outlet patches, carry handles and insulated lid. Oval, rectangular and round concepts are possible, but tight radii require segmented panels, wave-stitch material or hybrid construction.
PVC-laminated DWF offers robust forming and established manufacturing economics. TPU can support lighter, low-temperature-flexible or PVC-free premium products. Water-contact claims, food-contact claims and compatibility with disinfectants require documented material testing rather than generic assumptions.
Wall pressures commonly fall around 6–12 psi depending on thickness and geometry. The water load is carried through the whole wall and floor system; corner joints, fittings and local reinforcement are often more critical than headline pressure.
Core construction principle: two coated textile faces are connected by thousands of spacer yarns. As pressure rises, those yarns tension and keep the faces at a controlled distance, allowing the chamber to act as a lightweight panel rather than a rounded balloon. Bending stiffness still depends on pressure, thickness, span, boundary support and load distribution; it must be established on the finished product.
Engineering Item | Typical Design Direction | Buyer Decision |
DWF thickness | Usually 50–300 mm by product | Controls stiffness, freeboard, impact travel or wall depth |
Face construction | PVC-laminated, fusion-laminated, woven-core or TPU-faced | Balances mass, cost, folding, abrasion and product positioning |
Rail / edge | Welded or bonded multi-layer perimeter with reinforcement | Often the most critical airtight and structural zone |
Valves | High-pressure service valve; optional relief or secondary chamber valves | Affects inflation time, pressure control and field service |
Quality validation | Pressure retention, seam test, dimensional check and application load test | Finished-product rating must follow evidence, not catalog fabric data |
Reference Product Matrix
The following values are engineering starting points for quotation and prototype discussion. They are not certified ratings and must be refined around the actual load cases, environment, packing target and applicable standard.
Concept | Nominal Size | DWF Depth | Indicative Pressure | Design Intent |
CT-080 Solo Round | Ø 0.8 × 0.75 m | 80 mm wall | 6–10 psi | Approx. 250–350 L |
CT-150 Oval | 1.5 × 0.8 × 0.65 m | 80–100 mm wall | 8–12 psi | Approx. 350–500 L |
CT-C Custom Basin | Project size | 50–100 mm wall | Project-defined | Integrated ports/liner/cover |
Lighting, Accessories and Installation
Lighting: Optional waterproof exterior LEDs, removable underwater-rated light modules or illuminated branding can be used for hospitality installations. Electrical systems should use safe extra-low voltage, protected connectors and clear separation from users and water treatment equipment.
Installation forms: Freestanding on a smooth level base, connected to an external chiller/filter, placed in a fitted tray, or installed with a removable protective floor. Filled products should not be moved unless specifically designed for it.
Common OEM options include custom dimensions, single or multi-chamber layouts, woven or knitted core selection, PVC or TPU surface systems, anti-slip pads, replaceable wear covers, handles, D-rings, printed graphics, serial labels, repair kits, pumps, gauges, storage bags and project-specific hardware interfaces.
Representative Application Pages and Value Scenarios
Cold therapy and sports recovery
Portable tubs integrated with chillers, covers and filtration circuits. The value case should be described through deployment time, transport volume, operator handling, serviceability and the ability to tune pressure or accessories for the site. A representative project should record dimensions, chamber count, inflation pressure, packed size, setup crew, user/load limit, anchoring method and environmental limits.
Hospitality and wellness
Branded plunge experiences for hotels, gyms, spas and events. The value case should be described through deployment time, transport volume, operator handling, serviceability and the ability to tune pressure or accessories for the site. A representative project should record dimensions, chamber count, inflation pressure, packed size, setup crew, user/load limit, anchoring method and environmental limits.
Temporary wash and test tanks
Controlled non-hazardous liquid containment for service or demonstration. The value case should be described through deployment time, transport volume, operator handling, serviceability and the ability to tune pressure or accessories for the site. A representative project should record dimensions, chamber count, inflation pressure, packed size, setup crew, user/load limit, anchoring method and environmental limits.
Rental and mobile services
Packable equipment for pop-up recovery zones and touring events. The value case should be described through deployment time, transport volume, operator handling, serviceability and the ability to tune pressure or accessories for the site. Ideal Buyers and Purchasing Triggers
Ideal buyers include wellness brands, gyms, sports teams, recovery service providers, hotels, event operators and equipment integrators. Typical purchasing triggers are a new rental program, a transport-cost problem, a temporary-site requirement, a private-label product launch, an upgrade from low-pressure tube construction, or a need for a flat inflatable component inside a larger system.
Product Boundary and Responsible Claiming
Not for fuels, aggressive chemicals, hot liquids, potable-water claims or pressure-vessel service unless materials, fittings and full product are specifically qualified. Water hygiene, filtration and electrical safety remain the operator’s responsibility.
Relevant product classification should be confirmed before testing or marketing. Depending on the use, the project may need to consider floating-leisure standards, inflatable-boat standards, amusement-device standards, camping-tent standards, electrical requirements, public-use furniture rules, medical-device regulation or local occupational safety requirements. A generic DWF material certificate does not certify the final product.
Recommended Factory Validation
· Incoming material verification: thickness, mass, visual defects, coating adhesion and lot traceability.
· Process qualification: welding or bonding settings, seam coupons, reinforcement placement and valve installation.
· 100% leak check and controlled pressure-retention test after conditioning.
· Proof inflation above normal working pressure using a documented, product-specific procedure.
· Static, cyclic, impact, tow, bending or environmental tests selected from the actual use case.
· Final inspection of dimensions, graphics, accessories, labels, instructions and packing method.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the tub connect to any chiller?
Ports can be customized, but flow rate, hose diameter, suction safety and condensation management must match the chiller circuit.
Does the DWF wall insulate the water?
The air chamber provides some thermal resistance, but high-performance systems may need a reflective cover, insulated base or additional liner package.
Can it be used below freezing?
Material selection and operating instructions must address low-temperature flexibility, ice expansion and storage.
How is the drain reinforced?
A welded or bonded multi-layer patch spreads fitting loads into the wall or floor; the fitting should never rely on film alone.
Is a liner necessary?
A liner can simplify cleaning, improve feel and isolate the structural chamber from treatment chemicals, but it adds seams and service considerations.
