Arcti Interior for Museums, Galleries and Immersive Exhibitions
Reversible luminous volumes that help curators alter perception, guide movement and build memorable exhibition environments without turning the room into permanent scenery.
The Application Challenge
Exhibition teams often need an artwork to feel architectural while remaining temporary, lightweight and compatible with strict object-handling, rigging, acoustic and visitor-safety requirements. The same installation may need to be inspected at arm’s length, photographed from multiple angles and dismantled without marking the host space.
The Arcti Interior Solution Approach
Use a family of custom diffused forms as both visual subject and spatial organizer. Large suspended pieces establish the main volume; smaller floor or wall-adjacent elements control pacing, sightlines and transitions. Internal white or RGB+W light can remain static for contemplative work or be programmed as a slow, low-frequency sequence that supports rather than overwhelms the art.
Recommended Design Priorities
· Curatorial intent first: define whether the form is artwork, environment, lighting instrument or a combination of all three.
· Close-view finish: approve seams, access panels, graphics, surface texture and light uniformity from the visitor’s real distance.
· Acoustic design: choose closed-air construction where possible or isolate low-noise blowers and ducts outside the listening zone.
· Visitor interface: establish barriers, reach zones, emergency egress and what happens if a visitor touches or pushes the form.
· Touring logic: number modules, rigging points, control addresses, cases and replacement soft goods so the installation can move between venues.
Representative Case Configuration
Illustrative case: touring exhibition “Breathing Geometry”. The values below communicate scale, interfaces and customer value. They are illustrative planning values, not a completed-project claim or substitute for an approved engineering sheet.
Parameter | Representative planning value |
Space | Approx. 28 × 18 m gallery; 7 m clear height |
Illustrative package | 1 × 5.5 m suspended central form + 12 × 1.2 m satellite forms |
Lighting | Central RGB+W 500–700 W; satellites 40–60 W each |
Control | DMX groups with slow scenes; local service override |
Inflation / noise | Closed-air satellites; remote low-noise blower for central sculpture |
Customer value | One transportable system creates an artwork, route and photographic identity across several venues |
Customer Value Delivered
· Creates room-scale presence without a conventional timber or steel scenic build.
· Allows exhibition identity to travel while adapting quantity and layout to each venue.
· Supports inclusive wayfinding through light, scale and repeated forms rather than signs alone.
· Separates reusable technical components from replaceable or artist-specific skins.
From Concept to Deployment
1. Confirm artistic intent, visitor relationship and the host building’s limitations.
2. Develop geometry, surface, light and inflation method as one prototype or sample package.
3. Approve rigging, access, acoustics, public interface, controls and fire documentation.
4. Produce labelled modules, drawings, cases and venue-specific installation information.
5. Inspect, operate, clean, dismantle and store according to the approved plan.
Customization Options
· Surface language: matte textile, translucent film, layered membranes, printed gradients or artist-supplied artwork.
· Light behaviour: static white, tunable white, RGB+W, pixel zones or deliberately slow scene changes.
· Interaction readiness: sensor, audio or show-control integration can be prepared at interface level when specified by the project integrator.
· Touring package: cases, module labels, rigging diagrams, spare skins, repair kit and venue-change checklist.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the product itself be presented as an artwork?
Yes. The commissioning agreement should clearly define artist authorship, manufacturer responsibilities, approved drawings and how the work may be reproduced or toured.
Can visitors touch it?
Touching can be allowed only when materials, pressure, anchoring, cleaning and supervision are designed for interaction. Decorative versions should not be assumed touch-safe.
Are the example values final specifications?
No. They are a planning profile. Final dimensions, materials, power, controls, noise and fire documentation follow the approved project sheet.
